Lead Tax Advisor - Markets and Investment Banking

Job Overview

As the Lead Tax Advisor for Markets and Investment Banking, you will act as the primary contact for all tax advisory matters related to Global Markets, Corporate Finance, Transaction Banking, Private Banking, and Group Investments. You will guide stakeholders on tax implications of cross-border deals, manage advisory compliance, and maintain governance of tax risk and efficiency initiatives across multiple geographies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise all FAB entities on tax implications of Global Markets and Investment Banking transactions
  • Provide high-level advisory on corporate tax and cross-border structuring across branches and subsidiaries
  • Ensure compliance with evolving tax regulations across GCC, Asia, and international markets
  • Liaise with external tax advisors, authorities, and internal legal, risk, and finance teams
  • Monitor and report on tax exposures and efficiency opportunities in trading, M&A, and investment activities
  • Oversee documentation and substantiation of tax advisory positions
  • Periodically update and implement Advisory Tax governance policies
  • Support Group Tax leadership on audits, regulatory reviews, and special projects
  • Work closely with financial reporting and systems teams to ensure accurate tax disclosure
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and recommend timely risk mitigation measures
  • Provide guidance on new corporate tax regimes including GCC developments
  • Manage tax risk and ensure alignment with FAB s internal risk appetite framework

Job Requirements

  • CPA, ACA, or equivalent international Accounting / Tax qualification
  • Bachelor s and Master s degree (preferred) in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field
  • Minimum 10 years tax experience with emphasis on corporate, international, and markets tax advisory
  • Minimum 6 years experience in the banking or financial services industry
  • Proven international exposure in at least two countries or regions
  • Strong understanding of accounting systems (Oracle, SAP) and tax IT tools
  • Exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to navigate complex, cross-functional, and multicultural environments
  • Strong negotiation, documentation, and solution-oriented thinking
  • Ability to perform under pressure and deliver within tight deadlines
