Sr. Manager – Merchandising and Planning
Duties and Responsibilities :
1.Analyzing past sales trends to anticipate future need and commercially aware with an analytical flair.
2.Create processes to maximize profits and manage the performance of ranges.
3.Planning promotions and markdowns as necessary.
4.Development focus; aware of own personal strengths and development needs, seeks and acts on feedback from others on own actions and behaviors.
5.Optimizing the sales volume and profitability of designated product areas through effective stock, sales and merchandise planning.
6.Working closely with our buying teams to deliver ranges that hit margin targets as well as managing sales performance.
7.Developing business plans in managing stock exit plans is also essential including seasonal and end-off-line stock.
8.Developing the layout plans that incorporate space and stock planning.
9.Plan product ranges and preparing sales and stock plans in conjunction with buyers.
10.Ensures the customer is at the forefront of their thinking.
11.Have accountability of a category of the volume of the business
12.Effective communication and stakeholder management skills to devise a merchandising plan for multiple produce areas, as well as store.
13.Financial Modelling (e.g. Availability, intake planning, margin forecasting).
14.Managing a team of Merchandise Planners and inventory allocators & support staff.
15.Build a seasonal buying strategy for all departments including financial goals / margin etc.
16.Managing the product performance and margin throughout the season and setting mark downs.
17.Team management and monitoring staff performance against KPI’s.
18.Developing financial plans for assigned business areas that incorporate current business trends and Merchandising strategies tied to corporate financial goals.
19.Supporting the development of pre-season financial strategies developed by the team to achieve planned sales, margin, and turn goals.
20.Approving product flow strategies for both domestic and import programs to deliver optimum profit while ensuring they align with overall Meijer supply chain strategies.
21.Co-leading key business review meetings directing the team to highlight the current state of the business, forecasts future trends, and focuses on resolution.
22.Leading monthly forecast review meeting with the Merchandise Manager / Director, discussing MPRS level performance, identifying strategies and holding the team accountable for the strategies agreed upon to maintain a positive trend or reverse a negative one.
23.Driving accountability within the team to seek out in-season opportunities to maximize sales, margin, inventory turn, and ROI.
24.Providing leadership within team to effectively manage an open relationship across the team and leadership.
25.Providing coaching, guidance, and direction to the Planner to develop their individual skill set.
26.Negotiate contracts with vendors and distributors to manage product distribution, establishing distribution networks and developing distribution strategies.
