The Adult Trauma PIPS Coordinator for a program is responsible for designing and managing the implementation operations and evaluation of strategic programs or functions within SSMC to improve the clinical outcomes associated with the care of the adult population Responsibilities Adult Trauma PIPS Coordinator Under the direction of the Trauma Program Manager the Adult Trauma PIPS Coordinator develops implements and evaluates the trauma program and performance improvement and patient safety PIPS plan The Adult Trauma PIPS Coordinator is a licensed healthcare professional with evidence of educational preparation and clinical experience in the care of trauma patients The Adult Trauma PIPS Coordinator works under the direction of the Trauma Program Manager and coordinates all aspects of adult trauma care including but not limited to o Performance improvement and patient safety PIPS program o Alignment with industry best practices and recommendation for process improvements o Clinical care guidelines o Research collaboration o Local regional and national involvement of trauma system development Supports Research Coordinator to enable the program research Essential Responsibilities Performance Improvement Participates in Quality Management and Performance Improvement activities Identifies patient care system and or process issues and trends Assists with chart reviews data collection and preparation for case presentations o Works with the Trauma Medical Director Trauma Program Manager and all other departments in the investigation and resolution of issues and performance improvement activities related to Trauma care delivery Monitors reviews and reports extracted from the trauma registry and all other relevant reports Assists in the development revision of administrative policies and clinical nursing guidelines standards of care for program patients in collaboration with appropriate disciplines Participates in Departmental meetings and attends conventions conferences workshops and other professional meetings to extend learning and to represent SSMC Center Update the Trauma performance improvement plan PIPS annually Program Leadership Develops and maintains an adult trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety program Serve as Technical expert in the program development Provide guidance to all employees involved in program Provide performance feedback on program employees to applicable managers Evaluate and report to departmental organizational senior management on status and changes in program Service Delivery Participate in case review track PIPS reviews and action plans design and implement practice guidelines Role models service excellence in interactions with internal and external constituents Establishes a strong cooperative relationship with applicable leaders by providing the information tools and services necessary to improve the outcomes associated with the program Communication Designs and orchestrates the delivery of applicable communication to internal and external constituents Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication using a variety of methodologies Coordinates presentations and ensures consistent communication related to the program Participates in the review of program processes Recommends and participates in implementation of process improvements Monitors and measures process changes Facilitates crossfunctional performance improvement teams Administrative Role Participate in various hospital processes o Quality o Research o Leadership o Focus on program goals and patient satisfaction o Facilitate development and execution of PIPS program Resource Management Work with other relevant program operations managers to design the trauma registry to facilitate performance improvement activities trend reports and research while protecting confidentiality Strategic Planning Works collaboratively with appropriate stakeholders to develop the strategic plan for the trauma program both internally and externally Research Collaborates with other appropriate departments entities internal external for all research opportunities relating to the trauma program Miscellaneous Responsible for other miscellaneous duties as assigned ALL DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS MUST BE PERFORMED CONSISTENT WITH THE SSMC HEALTH PERFORMANCE STANDARDS Accountabilities Performance Improvement identification action plans resolution and documentation of the process Qualifications Educational Qualification Required Clinical Bachelor s Degree preferably BSN or medical paramedical degree Current national professional license or equivalent Certified proof of yearly CME Desired Trauma Outcomes Performance Improvement Course completion if not within 6 months of starting the role Trauma Program Manager Course Completion optional Recognized Registrar Certification CAIS or CSTR optional Injury Scaling Certification current edition AIS15 optional ICD
