We are looking for a GM – Legal one of our esteemed clients based in the UAE.
Position Summary :
The General Manager, Legal will be responsible for providing strategic legal advice and support across a diverse range of activities including Banking, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, Global financing, and other corporate legal matters across 40+ countries in Asia, Africa, CIS, and Europe. This role involves supporting the Group Treasury on fundraising activities, managing legal compliance, supervising governance, and overseeing other similar activities.
Key Responsibilities :
Mergers and Acquisitions :
- Provide legal advice and support for mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
- Conduct legal due diligence and oversee the legal aspects of transactions.
Finance and Structured Transactions :
Advise on Global financing, trade finance, structured debt, and securitisation.Negotiate financing documents with banks and Development Finance Institutions globally.Support debt capital market transactions.Commercial and Corporate Legal Work :
Draft and review NDAs, service agreements, and employment contracts.Address general commercial and corporate legal matters.Data Protection and Compliance :
Implement data protection policies across jurisdictions in Canada, Singapore, Europe, South Africa, India, Australia, and more.Supervise secretarial, governance, and compliance teams in APAC and Europe.Advisory and Support :
Serve as a key advisor to senior management on legal matters.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to mitigate legal risks.Qualifications :
LLB / LLM or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution.Minimum of 12 years of experience in a similar legal role with a focus on international business law.Extensive experience advising on mergers, acquisitions, and Global transactions.Strong knowledge of trade finance, structured debt, and arbitration processes.Demonstrated ability to manage Global legal issues and compliance.Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.Desired Characteristics :
