A highly analytical mid to senior level lawyer with progressive in-house legal experience in a major fast-paced service industry company, or in a reputable law firm (ideally paired with time spent in-house on secondment), preferably with significant GCC regional experience.
Responsibilities
- Oversee, manage and proactively report on UAE onshore litigation proceedings and effectively manage onshore UAE external litigation counsel
- Management of external counsel to ensure timely delivery of agreed deliverables within agreed budgets
- Maintain current knowledge of alterations and introductions of new UAE laws
- Give accurate, succinct, clear and timely counsel to facility and corporate executives and managers on a variety of legal topics (including, without limitation, litigation, corporate governance, commercial ventures, data protection, labour, real estate, licence, regulatory healthcare)
- Take an active role in researching, managing and advising on legal aspects related to the group’s restructuring and transformation projects
- Draft, lead negotiations and finalise contracts, settlement agreements, memoranda of understanding, heads of terms, demand notices while always ensuring reasoned risk allocation and protection of the business’ commercial, legal and reputational interests
- Project manage complex legal matters with multiple stakeholders and interests, including corporate governance requirements and contract reviews
- Present to the business and management on key legal, risk management and contracting topics
