with traditional deskside and infrastructure responsibilities across our shore facilities. You will act as a crucial bridge between vessel operations and corporate IT, ensuring seamless connectivity, support and service delivery across all platforms.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical competency, adaptability across environments, and the ability to prioritize tasks between reactive support and structured project work.

Vessel-Based Responsibilities (Marine IT)

  • Lead IT support for vessel communications and onboard technologies including satellite links, NAV systems, and shipboard networks.
  • Monitor and optimize vessel data usage; uphold uptime and performance standards.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues in remote or high-pressure environments.
  • Implement and standardize IT systems across the vessel fleet.
  • Train and support vessel crew in the use of onboard technologies.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and documentation of vessel-based IT infrastructure.
  • Build and manage a vessel test environment to support troubleshooting, training, and system validation.

Shore-Based (Deskside & Infrastructure) Responsibilities

  • Deliver deskside support for office-based staff, covering hardware, software, and network troubleshooting.
  • Administer Microsoft enterprise services including Active Directory, Exchange, Azure AD, and Office 365.
  • Support onboarding, provisioning, and lifecycle management of IT assets.
  • Respond to IT service tickets, ensuring timely resolution and escalation as needed.
  • Participate in infrastructure projects and cross-functional IT initiatives.
  • Maintain and support cloud platforms, remote access tools, and collaboration systems.
  • Technical Proficiencies Required

  • Fluent in managing Windows environments and Microsoft infrastructure (AD, DNS, DHCP, Azure AD, Office 365).
  • Confident with TCP / IP networking and administration of routers, switches, firewalls, and NAS devices.
  • Familiar with satellite and shipboard communications systems, and marine navigation hardware.
  • Build and maintain a current vessel test environment for assisting, troubleshooting, and training on Vessel systems that exist across our fleet.
  • Hands-on with structured cabling standards (Cat5e through Cat7) and physical network installations.
  • Basic knowledge and working understanding of the OSI Model and Network routing
  • Competent in supporting cloud-based and hybrid environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting methodology—able to isolate, resolve, and document complex issues across varied platforms.
  • Aptitudes & Core Competencies

  • Relishes tackling technical challenges in real-time, particularly in remote or high-pressure environments.
  • Sees beyond the immediate issue to identify root causes and systemic improvements.
  • Capable of translating technical detail into practical guidance, both written and verbal.
  • Comfortable shifting between onboard support, deskside troubleshooting, and project coordination.
  • Maintains structured documentation, asset records, and follow-through on open issues.
  • Collaborates effectively across departments, including vessel operations, procurement, and vendors.
  • High skill level in Project management with experience in budgeting, Vendor management, Pert & Gantt Charts
  • IT Service Desk support ranging from Level 1 & 2 up to and including Level 3 developing and managing large scale projects
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Environment stack (AD, DNS, DHCP, IIS, Delivery controller)
  • Desirable Certifications & Tools Familiarity

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business (or equivalent technical aptitude).
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience is required. However, candidates with 5 or more years of experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
  • Microsoft (MCSA), Cisco (CCENT), CompTIA (A+ / Network+), ITIL Foundations
  • Familiarity with Freshdesk, ServiceNow, or Remedy for service ticketing.
  • Proficient in Visio, project planning tools, and NS5 for procurement and inventory.
  • Working Conditions

  • Hybrid work model : remote, office-based, and onboard vessel support as required.
  • Extended hours when business requirements dictate
  • Will require occasional lifting (up to 60 lbs.), and mobility through confined vessel spaces.
  • Occasional travel to ports or shipyards (valid driver’s license required)
  • Ability to navigate through tight, awkward, and confined spaces while doing IT work on vessels
