The Consultant Physician is responsible for leading and supervising the delivery of highquality evidencebased care effectively and efficiently diagnosing managing and treating all patients placed under the post holder s care The Consultant Physician is expected to be an example of clinical excellence within his or her specialty and to provide leadership and training for junior medical staff Responsibilities Supports implements and follows all hospital departmental and divisional initiatives policies and procedures Helps lead and implement the organization s performance management system including peer review and the productivity and utilization review processes Participates in the organization s performance management system including peer review and the productivity and utilization review processes Assists with scheduling and supports the Division Chief in ensuring that adequate medical coverage is provided within the Division at all times Attends Divisional meetings as required Assists the Division Chief in the recruitment of new medical staff when appropriate Assumes other administrative or clinical duties as requested by the Division Chief Diagnoses and treats patients according to established standards of best practice for the post holder s specialty The Consultant Physician s clinical duties include but are not limited to the following Oversees the clinical activities of the junior medical staff and is assumes responsibility for the care they provide Complies with all established hospital polices regarding admissions consultations daily patient care surgical procedures discharge protocols outpatient and follow up practices Qualifications Experience Required Tier 1 NLT 2 years relevant experience as a consultant or equivalent post board certification Tier 2 NLT 8 years fulltime employment as a Consultant or equivalent postboard certification includes years in fellowship training in an internationally accredited institute For UAE Nationals Clinical Fellowship training following primary specialty board may substitute for experience as follows Each year of clinical fellowship is counted as two years of clinical Experience Only applicable to clinical subspecialty fellowship in the following countries Australia New Zealand Canada UK USA or HAAD accredited fellowship programs Desired N A Educational Qualification Required Qualification from Tier 1 OR Qualification from Tier 2 Current national license or equivalent Certified proof of yearly CME
