Job Summary : We are seeking an experienced Aerospace Safety Development Engineer to join our Safety & Systems Engineering team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the development and documentation of safety analyses, with a primary focus on authoring Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA) and Preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSA) in alignment with aerospace regulatory standards (ARP4761, ARP4754A, etc.). This role is essential to ensuring the safety and airworthiness of cutting-edge aerospace systems and supporting compliance with certification authorities.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead the development, drafting, and review of Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA) across various system levels (aircraft, system, and subsystem).
- Develop and maintain Preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSA) to support system architecture definition and hazard mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with systems engineers, design engineers, and certification teams to integrate safety requirements into system design and architecture.
- Conduct and document safety analyses in accordance with SAE ARP4761, ARP4754A, and relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., EASA, FAA, or other applicable authorities).
- Identify and document potential failure modes, hazards, and associated safety requirements within complex aerospace systems.
- Support System Safety Working Groups (SSWG) and coordinate cross-functional safety reviews.
- Develop and maintain safety planning documentation, including System Safety Plans and Safety Analysis Reports.
- Support certification programs by providing safety analysis deliverables for regulatory submissions.
- Participate in system design reviews, ensuring safety considerations are effectively addressed.
- Support DFMEA, FTA, and other safety and reliability analyses to ensure comprehensive hazard identification and risk mitigation.
- Continuously improve safety analysis processes, templates, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and compliance.
Qualifications & Experience :
Bachelor s or Master s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related technical field.Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in aerospace safety engineering, with direct experience in drafting FHA and PSSA for complex aerospace systems.Strong understanding of ARP4761, ARP4754A, and relevant regulatory guidance.Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally across systems, safety, design, and certification teams.Excellent technical writing skills with the ability to author clear, structured, and compliant safety documentation.Proficiency in safety analysis tools (e.g., Fault Tree analysis software, reliability modeling tools).Preferred :
Experience supporting safety certification activities for commercial or military aircraft, eVTOL, UAV, or space systems.Knowledge of software and avionics safety processes (DO-178C, DO-254).Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and safety analysis integration into model-based workflows.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex, multidisciplinary problems in a structured manner.Analytical mindset with attention to detail.Effective communicator with strong collaboration skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and meet critical deadlines.Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and safety culture.Company Industry
