Job Summary
The Head of the Pharmacy Program is responsible for overseeing the academic and administrative operations of the pharmacy program. This role involves ensuring the delivery of high-quality education, fostering research initiatives, and maintaining program accreditation standards. The incumbent will lead curriculum development, collaborate with faculty, and ensure alignment with industry trends to produce highly skilled graduates in the field of pharmacy.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Pharmacy Program, ensuring academic excellence and the achievement of program goals.
Oversee curriculum design, development, and assessment to ensure it meets industry standards and accreditation requirements.
Ensure the integration of the latest developments in pharmaceutical science into the program.
Plan and execute strategies for program growth and development in alignment with institutional objectives.
Promote interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation within the program.
Develop and implement student recruitment and retention strategies.
Supervise and mentor faculty members, including facilitating their professional development and performance evaluation.
Lead faculty recruitment and selection to ensure the hiring of qualified personnel.
Manage faculty workload and ensure compliance with academic policies.
Ensure the pharmacy program complies with national and international accreditation standards.
Lead the preparation of accreditation reports and liaise with accrediting bodies.
Stay updated on regulatory changes and ensure the program adheres to relevant guidelines and practices.
Provide leadership in student advising, support, and career development.
Address student concerns and ensure a positive learning environment.
Oversee student assessments, internships, and research projects.
Foster a research culture within the program by encouraging faculty and students to engage in research projects.
Collaborate with local healthcare institutions and industry partners for internships, job placements, and research opportunities.
Promote community engagement initiatives, including health awareness programs and partnerships with local pharmacies.
Prepare and manage the program’s budget, ensuring the effective allocation of resources.
Report to the Dean on program progress, faculty performance, and student outcomes.
Ensure the effective use of technology and other resources in teaching and program administration.
