About the business area

Our Legal & Board Secretariat team works with internal and external stakeholders to advise on legal and company secretarial issues, including corporate governance activities, all banking and corporate legal issues and certain types of litigation affecting our business activities and assets. We provide professional legal services for Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) and its subsidiaries by addressing legal risks, providing creative solutions, and identifying opportunities for our business partners. As a key control partner for ADCB, we understand the businesses we support and their ultimate customer, shareholder and employee goals. The Legal & Board Secretariat team advices ADCB on remaining in line with international financial services regulations and legislation. Our experts collaborate with stakeholders all over the bank to deal with a wide range of critical business issues – from banking, corporate and commercial laws to litigation, investigations, mergers and acquisitions and governance.

We are actively seeking an ambitious professional to join our team at ADCB to work alongside passionate colleagues who share your ambition to redefine excellence in UAE banking.

In this role, your key responsibilities include :

• Manage and assess the professional expertise and experience advice provided to the business is accurate and within Banks guidelines in order to raise awareness and understanding of the legal implications of commercial decisions and complex transaction structures.
• Manage and oversee complex transactions completed, overseeing the liaison with external counsel and the business in order to achieve commercial aims accurately.
• Manage the drafting and provision of project management support in order to enable the business to manage more simple deals and ensure the completion of projects within set timelines and requirements.
• Manage the proactive identification of legal issues, overseeing the adjustments completed in order to improve legal risks by improving the Bank’s legal infrastructure at an appropriate cost.
• Manage the teams knowledge and educational awareness of the ongoing changing legal risks affecting the Bank to ensure their full understanding and adherence to changing policies.
• Oversee the selection and management with external counsel, reviewing agreements and costings to ensure that external counsel service and costs are appropriate to the changing needs of the Bank.
