Job Description

Purpose of this role : To oversee technical and techno-economic aspects throughout the lifecycle of renewable energy projects globally, including solar PV, wind, thermal / process-based technologies (CSP, WTE, Geothermal, etc.), and energy storage solutions. The role involves strategic planning, resource allocation, and ensuring project alignment with organizational goals.

The Associate Director, Conceptual Engineering provides technical guidance and leadership to engineering teams and consultants, establishing policies and ensuring best practices in engineering.

To lead a team of technology experts in renewable projects, ensuring knowledge transfer and supervising project specifications, budgets, and timelines with stakeholders. Responsible for defining basic designs and reviewing test procedures for plant components.

Job Responsibilities

• Support business planning : Contribute to operational objectives aligned with Masdar’s vision, and monitor technological and market trends to support innovation.
• Team management : Organize and supervise technical activities, ensuring efficient workload distribution.
• Technical and techno-economic support : Lead conceptual engineering support, incorporate new tools, and conduct feasibility studies, resource assessments, and plant optimization.
• Participation in RFPs and tenders : Support technical aspects during bidding, including requirements development and contract negotiations.
• Construction and commissioning : Supervise project performance improvements and regulatory compliance.
• Technical support for assets : Provide operational support, review reports, and participate in advisory committees.

Qualifications

Preferred : Master’s in Engineering or Renewable Energy, Chartered Engineer status, Project Management certification.

Experience : 12+ years in the RE industry, preferably with EPC contractors, developers, or engineering firms.

Skills : Excellent communication, knowledge of renewable and traditional energy sectors, project management, and technical software proficiency.

The successful candidate will support the entire lifecycle of Masdar’s global RE projects, representing the company on technical committees.
