Assistant / Associate Professor in Horticulture Landscape Design

Department : Integrative Agriculture, United Arab Emirates University. The Department seeks an Assistant / Associate Professor with teaching and research experience in environmental planning, horticulture, and ecological landscape design. The candidate will teach courses in landscape design, plant propagation, urban horticulture, and sustainable landscaping; supervise graduate research focused on innovative, sustainable landscaping and climate-resilient plants; collaborate to develop landscape design pedagogy; and use design tools such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape, or Lumion for landscape strategies and sustainable horticulture in arid regions. The role is a permanent position involving teaching, research, and community service, with primary duties in undergraduate landscape design courses.

Minimum Qualifications

• PhD in horticulture (ornamental / landscape design) or closely related discipline from a distinguished international university; post-doctoral experience.
• Proficiency in communication, leadership, and networking to facilitate effective collaboration.
• Commitment to upholding elevated standards in teaching (in English) and student mentorship.
• Proven dedication to fostering diversity and interdisciplinary collaboration within the agricultural domain.
• Demonstrated track record of published works in landscape design / science.
• Teaching experience in relevant areas.
• Good h-index according to Scopus.
• Demonstrated ability to attract internal and external grants.

Preferred Qualifications

Responsibilities : Spearhead establishment of an innovative research program focusing on fundamental and applied dimensions in designing landscapes for different ecological situations, implementation, and cost estimations.
