Role Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Traffic Engineer for a full-time, based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The role involves leading and supporting a wide range of traffic engineering and transportation planning activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting detailed traffic analyses, preparing and reviewing transportation studies, optimizing traffic operations, and contributing to road safety assessments. Daily tasks will also include the development of traffic management plans, modeling traffic patterns, evaluating infrastructure impacts, and ensuring compliance with local regulations and standards, particularly those set by the Integrated Transport Center (ITC). The role requires close coordination with government authorities, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure that project deliverables are technically sound, aligned with strategic transportation goals, and completed within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree or professional certification is an advantage ( e.g., PE, PTOE, RTA / ITC accreditation) are highly desirable).
• Mandatory experience with the Integrated Transport Center (ITC) in Abu Dhabi, including familiarity with submission procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Proven expertise in traffic analysis, transportation planning, and traffic impact studies.
• Strong knowledge of road safety engineering, traffic operations, and mobility management strategies.
• Hands-on experience in preparing and reviewing traffic studies, microsimulation models, and capacity analyses.
• In-depth understanding of traffic engineering principles, design standards, and best practices, particularly those applicable in the UAE.
• Proficiency in using traffic engineering and analysis tools such as Synchro, VISSIM, SIDRA, and HCS. Knowledge in VISUM, AIMSUN and STEAM is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and review Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) and Temporary Traffic Diversion Plans (TDPs).
• Collaborating with project teams, urban planners, designers, and public agencies to ensure coordinated and effective transportation solutions.
• Minimum of 7–10 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in the UAE / Gulf region.
