Key Accountabilities
- Proven ability to successfully deliver port and coastal construction projects
- Reviewing designs, drawings, construction methodologies, test results, risk assessments and any other documents on behalf of the Client in accordance with local and international (BS and EU) standards and practices.
- Has wide experience in project construction supervision in Dredging and reclamation work experience, past project in marine structures like Quay walls, wharves, etc.
- Has Knowledge of different construction methodologies i.e. Block wall construction for quay / wharves, secant piles, etc.
- Shall have an excellent understanding of BS / EU codes, marine-related guidelines and standards (BS6349, PIANC, CIRIA, etc.)
- Liaising with the Client on a daily basis, the candidate will effectively be a member of the Clients team.
- Supervising the Contractors works by performing daily inspections, ensuring that the works are progressing in accordance with the approved design drawings and design standards.
- Review and ensuring the proposed methods of construction, materials, etc. are in accordance with good engineering practice and do not endanger the safety of the Client s staff and equipment or that of its customers or neighbors.
- Review and ensure the Contractor s designs / specifications, calculations, construction drawings, and construction methodologies fully satisfy the Employer s Requirements.
- Review and advise on the designs, calculations, materials and any other requisites with respect to alternative designs, materials, as proposed by the Contractor requiring an amendment to any designs, materials, or any others.
- Supervise site activities to ensure that the required construction standards and specifications are met.
- Record the progress of the works against the current programme and record any variances and inform the Client of such variances.
- Communicate effectively with all relevant parties including the Employer, Client, Contractor and other stakeholders, as necessary.
- Manage procedures and systems for accurate record keeping and claim management.
- Monitor the chosen construction methodologies applied on site for compliance with relevant Client and local health and safety legislation.
- Liaise with the Client H&S coordinators
- Record the progress of the works against the programme to assist the Client in assessing accurately the valuation of the works completed.
- Liaise directly with the client and the contractors to mitigate the implications of any site queries / site problems that may arise.
- Direct Experience in working on marine construction sites including engagement with multiple stakeholders.
- Detailed experience in fulfilling duties required by the Safety Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations
