About The Job
Based at the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi within the Food & Beverage Department, the Bar Back is responsible for assisting the team in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the restaurant, providing a prompt and professional service to the guests, and being responsible for creating a memorable dining experience within the restaurant. The Bar Back reports to the Bar Manager.
Responsibilities
- Set up the bar, including daily cleaning of all bar areas, equipment, dishwasher, stock up fridges and stations, prepare mise en place prior to the start of each shift.
- Assist with stock counts and ensuring the restaurant has adequate supplies for the shift, including crockery, glassware, cutlery, condiments, fresh fruit and herbs.
- During service, prepare hot drinks to the required standard, clean coffee machine and hot drink equipment, replenish stations, and wash utensils, glassware and crockery after use.
- Ensure the bar area and stations remain clean throughout service.
- Assist in setting up the bar for special or private events as per briefing.
- Guest etiquette : address guests as Sir or Madam, provide guest right of way, assist guests with requests; if unable to assist, refer to Head Bartender or Manager.
- Alert the Head Bartender or Manager of spillages, challenging guests, intruders, etc.
- Attend to bar guests, provide feedback to Managers, ensure guests receive the brand experience, and escalate if a guest is not content.
- Study and learn all menus and attend training to describe ingredients and preparation methods when required.
- Provide courteous, professional, attentive, and efficient service at all times with customers, staff and suppliers.
- Know the layout and location of equipment; understand the restaurant operation and respond to changes as requested by the Manager.
- Attend and contribute to staff briefings / meetings and related activities; support new recruits through on-the-job training.
- Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and punctuality per the personal presentation policy.
- Undertake other reasonable roles and responsibilities as requested by the Manager.
- Be vigilant and take responsibility for the security of the restaurant premises and properties.
As Bar Back, We Expect From You
Previous experience working as bar back in a luxury hotel; resort experience is a plus.Fluent proficiency in English and excellent communication skills; additional languages are an advantage.Able to multi-task and work under pressure in a busy operation.The ability to work well in a team environment.Driven, dynamic and energetic.Our commitment to you
