Job Description : Senior Irrigation Engineer - Landscape and Irrigation Systems (Park Renovation Projects, Al Ain)

Position Overview :

The Senior Irrigation Engineer will oversee the design, material selection, testing, quality control, installation, and maintenance of irrigation systems for the renovation of two parks in Al Ain. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with project specifications, local regulations, water conservation, and sustainability goals, with a strong emphasis on material inspections, shop drawings, as-built documentation, and quality control during construction.

Key Duties and Responsibilities :

Irrigation System Design & Development :

Lead design and development of efficient irrigation systems, ensuring compliance with water efficiency and landscape needs.

Collaborate with the design team to integrate irrigation systems into the park landscape, ensuring appropriate irrigation methods and water distribution.

Material Selection, Inspections, and Approvals :

Review, approve, and conduct on-site inspections of irrigation materials (pipes, valves, sprinklers, controllers) to ensure quality and compliance with specifications.

Conduct material testing for pressure resistance, durability, and functionality, ensuring proper certification and approval.

Shop Drawings and Installation Supervision :

Review shop drawings submitted by contractors to ensure they align with the approved designs and specifications.

Supervise installation, ensuring proper execution of plans, with a focus on quality, materials, and system layout.

Irrigation System Testing and Commissioning :

Oversee testing of irrigation systems, including leak detection, flow testing, pressure testing, and system calibration.

Ensure proper commissioning of the system for functionality and address any issues that arise during testing.

Quality Control and Assurance :

Develop and enforce a comprehensive QA / QC process for all irrigation work, including regular inspections and quality checks.

Ensure that all materials, installations, and system components meet quality standards, document all inspections and testing results.

Water Management and Efficiency :

Ensure the design and installation of water-efficient irrigation systems that minimize water wastage and maximize efficiency using smart technologies like weather-based controllers.

Develop irrigation schedules based on plant needs, weather, and soil conditions.

Compliance and Reporting :

Ensure all systems meet Al Ain Emirate’s water management and environmental standards.

Coordinate with local authorities for necessary approvals and submit accurate as-built documentation for final review.

Training and Support :

Train contractors and park maintenance teams on irrigation system operation and maintenance.

Provide troubleshooting guidance and ensure proper system management over time.

Provide expert guidance and technical support to junior engineers and project teams.

Troubleshoot system performance issues and recommend improvements.

Budgeting and Cost Estimation :

Prepare cost estimates and budgets for irrigation projects.

Client Interaction :

Collaborate with clients to assess their needs and provide customized and efficient irrigation solutions.

Present project proposals and reports to stakeholders.

Job Requirements :

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.

Strong proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, LandFX, BIM, GIS, hydraulic modeling tools).

Excellent project management and organizational skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
