The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Cost Controls Engineer - Services with a proven track record in the industry, ensuring the successful execution of projects and alignment with company goals for a high-profile client.
Job objective and accountability are focused on the preparation and reporting of project cost budgets, tracking and management of project expenditure, to enable robust control of projects throughout their lifecycle. The role includes development of project budgets, tracking of actual and forecasted costs, and generation of cost reports in accordance with contractual requirements and Wood policies, procedures and standards. The position may be standalone on a project or part of a team depending on project requirements.

Responsibilities
Accountable for ensuring project cost budgets are developed and maintained in accordance with the Project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and the Basis of EstimateEffectively manage the communications interfaces essential for the delivery of the cost functionLiaise with procurement, finance, time-capture functions, and third parties to ensure accurate and timely capture of procurement, materials, subcontract and labour costs; ensure costs are allocated accurately per approved WBSLiaise with engineering, procurement and construction functions to maintain awareness of project activities and their impact on the budget, schedule and cost forecastManage the project / assignment work approval process including accurate cost code allocation and initial budget setup and approvalsAccountable for ensuring project cost budgets are developed and maintained using appropriate software applicationsMonitor and review cost commitments and expenditures through all phases of the project lifecycleLiaise with project management, project planning, and others to ensure accuracy in cost phasing and forecastingReview and evaluate project cost performance reports and updates to project cost forecastReview and analyze cost impact of project manpower forecastsReview and issue project change orders / variations in accordance with engineering and construction change notificationsReview and communicate cost and schedule impact of change notificationsMonitor cost impact of major milestones and contingency drawdownAttend project / client meetings and present project cost performance status as requiredFacilitate / chair internal project cost performance meetings as requiredLead the project cost close-out processParticipate in contract and corporate Risk Analysis sessions and in Project Controls Compliance and Continuous Improvement reviewsMentor and develop Cost personnel; delegate and manage the work of subordinate project controls staff as requiredProvide direction and support to subordinate staff and assist in staff performance reviewsParticipate in contract and corporate Audits; act as Cost Focal Point for all project scopes within the assignmentAccountable for ensuring that budgets correspond to submitted estimates and approved scope changes, updates are timely, and project reports are accurateHighlight issues in a timely manner and ensure reporting aligns with contract requirementsEnsure change orders are tracked with correct submittal and approval dates in the tracking systemQualifications
Incumbents will typically have a minimum 15 years relevant scheduling / planning experienceExtensive Middle East Oil and Gas experiencePrevious experience in major ADNOC EPC / EPCM projectsExcellent knowledge of cost software and related principles, tools and techniques including budgeting, forecasting and cash-flowExcellent knowledge of Project Execution Procedures for Cost Management including Change ManagementExcellent understanding of WBS & CBS structures and project reporting capabilitiesAdvanced ability to develop project cost budgets and change estimatesAdvanced ability to prepare cost reportsExcellent understanding of change management and associated cost and schedule processesExcellent understanding of earned value application, cost and schedule variance analyses / trending and what-if scenariosExcellent understanding of project management principles and techniquesExcellent understanding of Cost Management, Change Control, Planning & Risk Analysis & ManagementPrior experience in a Senior or Principal Cost role and managing a teamAbout Us
