The Role
The Ad-Hoc Offshore Crane Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and performing maintenance, repairs, and 5 Yearly Major Maintenance overhauls of offshore cranes and lifting equipment, both offshore and onshore. The role involves managing maintenance teams and ensuring the proper functioning of cranes and related systems in the offshore environment while also supporting crane component overhauls in the onshore workshop. This position requires flexibility to switch between offshore duties and supporting the onshore workshop, where critical crane components are overhauled.
Main Responsibilities & Key Result Areas
Offshore Crane Maintenance :
- Supervise and coordinate 5 yearly Major Maintenance activities for all types of offshore lifting equipment, including Pedestal cranes, EOT Cranes and Davits
- Oversee the troubleshooting, and repair work for offshore cranes, hoists, and associated lifting gear as required
- Conduct regular inspections of crane components, identifying potential issues and ensuring compliance with offshore safety standards (e.g., LOLER, CE Marking)
- Implement preventive maintenance schedules, corrective actions, and performance monitoring to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment
- Supervise a team of maintenance technicians, providing leadership and guidance while ensuring quality and safety in all tasks performed
- Respond to emergency crane breakdowns offshore, leading troubleshooting and repair efforts to restore operations swiftly
- Ensure all maintenance activities are documented, including parts usage, work orders, and inspection results, and report regularly to Project Engineers
- Enforce strict adherence to HSE protocols during all maintenance and lifting operations offshore
- Provide support and leadership onsite via a detailed technical understanding of Cranes
- Responsible for the safe and productive running of the shift
- Focal point for QHSE related matters on the project at shift level, reporting to the EnerMech Contract Manager as required
- Ensure all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance programs and practices are followed to ensure maximum up-time for all EnerMech equipment
- Support the Project Engineer in the smooth running of the project by reporting any equipment and client issues in an appropriate and timely manner
- Record and be responsible for all shift paperwork, toolbox talks and risk assessments
Onshore Workshop (Crane Component Overhaul) :
Support the onshore workshop in the disassembly, inspection, overhauling, and reassembly of crane components such as winches, hoists, drums, and gearboxesLead and manage the workshop teams in carrying out repairs, replacements, and reconditioning of crane components to ensure they meet operational specificationsReview technical manuals, drawings, and other documentation to ensure overhauled components are in optimal working conditionOversee the testing and quality control procedures for overhauled crane components before they are shipped back to the offshore siteEnsure that workshop maintenance procedures and safety standards are strictly followed during overhauls and repairsCoordinate the logistics of crane components being transported between the offshore facility and the onshore workshop, ensuring minimal operational disruptionsCollaborate with offshore and onshore teams to ensure alignment of maintenance schedules, availability of spare parts, and timely delivery of overhauled componentsComplete Job cards and daily reporting as required by Workshop Manager and Project EngineersRequirements
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in mechanical, electrical, or crane maintenance fields are requiredEnglish Language (good written and vocabulary)Minimum of 8 years offshore experience with at least 2 in a supervisory roleExperience in strip down and rebuild of winches, motors and pumpsExperience in testing and pressure testing of crane components - cylinders etcCompetent with Crane Maintenance and inspectionsAble to understand maintenance drawings / hydraulic drawings / isometric drawingsAbility to compile and complete technical maintenance proceduresBasic IT skills - Word, Excel, etcPreferred
