Candidate Requirements

• Education: BE/B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.

• Experience:

  • Engineering degree with a minimum of 4 5 years' experience in utility or facility maintenance in the UAE; or

  • Diploma engineer with 10 15 years' experience in a mechanical/electrical maintenance role within the FMCG, production, or packaging industry.

• Proficiency in MS Office applications and AutoCAD.

• Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Flexible and able to work effectively in a highly advanced FMCG industrial environment.

• Able to respond positively and remain effective under pressure.

Role Overview

The Utilities Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for the efficient operation, maintenance, safety, and reliability of utility systems, including electrical power, water supply, HVAC, compressed air, building services, and fire safety systems.

Key Responsibilities Operations and Maintenance

• Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot LV power distribution systems, HVAC units, water systems, and compressed-air systems.

• Plan and implement preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.

• Monitor system performance using control systems and meters and ensure compliance with operational standards.

Technical Responsibilities

• Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults in utility systems and coordinate repairs.

• Ensure the proper calibration of flow meters, pressure gauges, energy meters, and other instruments.

• Coordinate with technicians to replace worn components such as pumps, motors, valves, and circuit breakers.

Compliance and Safety

• Follow UAE safety protocols and regulations for the safe operation of utility infrastructure.

• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation in line with ISO standards.

• Coordinate with government authorities and contractors for inspections, permits, and certifications.

Energy Management

• Monitor energy consumption and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.

• Recommend energy-efficient equipment, automation systems, and other upgrades to reduce operating costs.

• Implement energy-saving initiatives such as load management and equipment retrofits.

Project Management

• Manage small- to medium-sized utility and building improvement or expansion projects.

• Prepare budgets, schedules, and resource plans for maintenance and repair projects.

• Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialist services and equipment procurement.

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with Production, Safety, Engineering, and other departments to ensure uninterrupted utility services.

• Train and supervise utility technicians.

• Maintain effective relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure the timely availability of spare parts and equipment.

Audit and Management-System Compliance

• Support the Engineering Coordinator in preparing documentation for internal and external audits.

• Address non-conformities and audit recommendations and implement preventive measures.

• Maintain knowledge of and compliance with relevant standards and certifications, including:

  • ISO 9001:2015.

  • ISO 45001:2018.

  • FSSC 22000 Version 6.

  • ISO 14001:2015.

  • FSMA registration requirements.

  • HACCP.

  • Halal and Kosher requirements.

  • Other applicable external-body requirements.

Quality and Food Safety

• Instruct technicians to carry out maintenance activities according to food-safety requirements.

• Ensure compliance with dress-code and hygiene requirements in controlled areas.

• Prepare and approve machine operating and maintenance work instructions in accordance with HACCP principles.

• Ensure that maintenance and calibration schedules are followed.

• Verify that machine cleaning and measuring equipment comply with FSSC 22000 and FSMA expectations.

• Train operators in the safe and compliant use of machines and measuring equipment.

• Inspect machinery for loose or missing screws and other potential hazards.

• Participate in food-safety meetings and improvement discussions.
