الوصف الوظيفيWe are looking for a warm, patient, and reliable Learning Support Assistant and Childcare Support for a 4-year-old child with speech delay.
Role Overview:
- The child communicates using sign language and an AAC communication device, which helps her express her needs, choices, feelings, and thoughts.
- This is a full-time live-in role for someone who genuinely enjoys supporting children and understands that progress happens through patience, consistency and care.
- The right candidate will support the child with communication, learning, daily routines, hygiene, emotional regulation, safety and independence.
- This is not a basic babysitting role. We are looking for someone kind, structured, and responsible who can become a trusted support for the child across home, school and therapy routines.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the child with daily learning, play, school readiness, and structured activities.
- Assist the child in using her AAC communication device during daily routines, learning, play and social interaction.
- Encourage communication through sign language, gestures, visual cues, and simple repeated language.
- Help the child express her needs, emotions, choices, and responses calmly.
- Support emotional regulation during frustration, refusal, transitions, or sensory overwhelm.
- Assist with daily childcare routines including feeding support, toilet routine, hygiene, changing, and general care.
- Help the child build confidence, independence, and social interaction skills.
- Follow guidance from parents, therapists, teachers, and school staff.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and child-friendly environment.
- Observe and share clear daily updates on mood, food, sleep, communication, behavior, learning, and any concerns.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect family boundaries always.
Requirements
- Previous experience as an LSA, Shadow Teacher, Teaching Assistant, Nursery Assistant, SEN Assistant, Early Years Educator, Childcare Assistant, or Child Development Support Worker.
- Experience supporting children with speech delay, communication delay, developmental delay, autism, ADHD, or additional learning needs will be preferred.
- Experience with AAC devices, visual communication, PECS, sign language, or alternative communication methods is a strong advantage.
- Good spoken English.
- Calm, kind, emotionally stable, and patient with repetition.
- Comfortable supporting both learning and childcare routines.
- Able to follow instructions and accept feedback.
- Hygiene conscious, safety focused, punctual, and reliable.
- Comfortable with a full-time live-in arrangement.
- Limited personal phone use during working hours.
