General Accountant

Job Title – General Accountant
Location: Dubai, UAE

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive General Accountant to manage daily accounting operations, maintain accurate financial records, and support the organization's financial reporting and compliance activities. The role is responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial data, monitoring transactions, and assisting in budgeting, tax compliance, and audit processes.

Key Responsibilities

General Accounting & Financial Records

• Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and record daily financial transactions.
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing activities.
• Ensure all accounting records are complete, accurate, and maintained in accordance with accounting standards.
• Monitor financial transactions and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

• Process supplier invoices, payments, and expense claims.
• Prepare customer invoices and monitor collections and outstanding receivables.
• Reconcile vendor and customer accounts regularly.
• Maintain accurate aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances.

Bank Reconciliation & Cash Management

• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations.
• Monitor cash flow and maintain accurate cash records.
• Record and reconcile all banking transactions.
• Support treasury activities by monitoring cash balances and payment schedules.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis reports.
• Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to improve financial performance.
• Support management with accurate financial information for decision-making.

Taxation & Compliance

• Prepare and submit VAT returns in accordance with UAE regulations.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, financial, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain supporting documentation for tax filings and financial reporting.
• Assist with internal and external audits by preparing required schedules and documentation.

Budgeting & Cost Control

• Monitor departmental expenses against approved budgets.
• Support cost control initiatives and identify opportunities for operational efficiencies.
• Assist in variance analysis and financial planning activities.
• Contribute to improving financial processes and internal controls.

Documentation & Internal Controls

• Maintain organized accounting records and financial documentation.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures.
• Support the implementation of internal control measures to safeguard company assets.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial information and company records.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CA, CMA, or equivalent is an advantage.
• 4–8 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
• Experience within trading, logistics, shipping, construction, manufacturing, or commercial organizations is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, VAT regulations, and UAE accounting practices.
