Economics Expert – AI Training (Remote, Hourly Contractor)
Position Summary
In this remote, hourly contractor role, you will design demanding economics problems intended to test the limits of advanced AI models, and evaluate how well those models reason through them. Project scopes vary and may include:
Designing original, high-difficulty problems across microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, game theory, and behavioral economics, including problems that current models are likely to get wrong
Writing complete reference solutions with rigorous derivations and step-by-step reasoning
Building tasks grounded in quantitative material such as econometric output, time-series plots, policy figures, and economic charts, and assessing whether models interpret that material correctly
Evaluating AI-generated responses for conceptual accuracy, logical consistency, correct model specification, and sound interpretation of results
Identifying flawed assumptions, misapplied theory, causal overreach, and unsupported conclusions, and explaining corrections clearly in writing
Rating and comparing AI responses on correctness, rigor, and adherence to the prompt
Profile Requirements
Master's degree or higher in Economics or a closely related quantitative field; PhD preferred
Depth in at least one economics subfield, with strong command of formal reasoning and the ability to construct novel, non-trivial problems
Ability to explain complex economic concepts and corrections clearly and accurately in writing
Full professional English proficiency
Exceptional attention to detail
Reliable and self-directed, with consistent output quality on complex, time-intensive tasks in a remote, asynchronous workflow
Preferred Experience
Prior experience with AI data training, annotation, or model evaluation
Background in economics research, academic instruction, or applied policy and industry analysis
Proficiency in statistical software such as Stata, R, Python, EViews, or MATLAB
