Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced and hands-on Finance Manager / Senior Accountant to independently manage the company’s complete finance and accounting functions.
The company does not currently have a separate accountant under this position. Therefore, the successful candidate will be responsible for both financial management and daily accounting work, including bookkeeping, transaction recording, reconciliations, financial reporting, tax compliance, audit preparation, and financial analysis.
This position is suitable for a candidate who is willing and able to handle the full accounting cycle independently, rather than only supervising or reviewing the work of others.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage the company’s complete finance and accounting operations.
- Perform daily bookkeeping and accurately record all financial transactions in the accounting system.
- Maintain the general ledger and complete monthly and annual closing procedures.
- Prepare journal entries, payment vouchers, receipt vouchers, invoices, credit notes, and other accounting documents.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including the profit and loss statement, balance sheet, and cash-flow report.
- Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable, including customer collections, supplier payments, ageing reports, and account reconciliations.
- Review supplier invoices, purchase orders, delivery documents, contracts, payment requests, and supporting documents before processing payments.
- Prepare and process supplier payments, employee reimbursements, petty-cash transactions, and other company expenses.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations and manage company bank accounts, fund transfers, online banking transactions, and banking documentation.
- Manage company cash flow, prepare payment plans, monitor available funds, and provide cash-flow forecasts to management.
- Prepare company budgets and monitor actual income and expenditure against the approved budget.
- Analyse project costs, revenue, profitability, expenses, and financial performance.
- Manage UAE VAT matters, including transaction reviews, VAT reconciliation, return preparation, filing, and supporting-document management.
- Manage UAE Corporate Tax matters, including accounting records, tax calculations, supporting schedules, filing coordination, and compliance requirements.
- Maintain proper accounting records and supporting documents in accordance with UAE legal, tax, and audit requirements.
- Independently prepare audit schedules, account breakdowns, confirmations, and supporting documents for the annual audit.
- Coordinate directly with external auditors, tax consultants, banks, suppliers, customers, and government-related parties on financial matters.
- Review contracts and commercial documents from a financial perspective and advise management on payment terms, tax treatment, cost exposure, and financial risks.
- Follow up on outstanding receivables, incomplete supplier documents, unreconciled transactions, pending payments, and other unresolved financial matters.
- Improve internal financial controls, accounting procedures, document-verification processes, and reporting accuracy.
- Provide accurate and timely financial information and professional recommendations to company management.
- Perform other finance and accounting duties assigned by management.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or above in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or a related field.
A minimum of five years of relevant accounting and finance experience.
Previous finance and accounting work experience in the UAE is mandatory.
Must be able to independently handle the complete accounting cycle without relying on a separate junior accountant or bookkeeping team.
Strong hands-on experience in bookkeeping, general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, closing, and financial-statement preparation.
Sound knowledge of UAE VAT, Corporate Tax, tax registration, tax filing, and related compliance requirements.
Familiarity with UAE annual audit requirements and the ability to independently prepare all required audit documents and schedules.
Practical experience with UAE corporate banking, including online payments, bank reconciliations, fund transfers, bank letters, and account administration.
Strong knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash-flow management, budgeting, and cost control.
Ability to review supplier documents, contracts, purchase orders, invoices, delivery documents, and payment-supporting documents carefully and professionally.
Able to understand the company’s actual business operations and apply professional financial judgement, rather than only entering data into the accounting system.
Strong financial-analysis, risk-identification, problem-solving, and follow-up capabilities.
Detail-oriented, responsible, proactive, and able to complete work accurately within required deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and commonly used accounting software.
Experience with Odoo or another ERP system is preferred.
Good written and spoken English, with the ability to independently handle English emails, contracts, reports, banking documents, tax documents, and audit materials.
ACCA, CPA, CMA, or another relevant professional qualification is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in UAE engineering, trading, equipment supply, installation, contracting, or project-service companies.
- Experience with project-cost accounting, inventory, supplier settlements, contractual payment milestones, and customer collections.
- Experience independently managing the full finance function of a small or medium-sized company.
- Familiarity with both UAE mainland and free-zone company requirements.
- Candidates available to join immediately or within a short notice period will be preferred.
