About the Role
The Design & Project Delivery Lead will provide technical leadership across the complete project lifecycle, ensuring Tate solutions are successfully developed, coordinated, delivered, and commissioned across data centres and critical infrastructure projects throughout the Middle East region.
This is a client-facing role requiring a highly experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in both design engineering and on-site project execution. The Design & Project Delivery Lead will act as the key technical authority on projects, supporting customers from initial concept through technical review, coordination, installation, commissioning, and handover.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the technical delivery of projects from client requirements and concept development through design review, installation, commissioning, and final handover.
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Review and challenge engineering designs to ensure technical compliance, constructability, functionality, and commercial viability.
Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring design intent is maintained throughout delivery.
Drive problem-solving activities where design solutions require adaptation during installation or site execution.
Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, consultants, and installation teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
Identify project risks and develop practical mitigation strategies to minimise impact on programme, cost, and quality.
Participate in client meetings, workshops, design reviews, and technical presentations.
Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards, local regulations, customer requirements, and company procedures.
Support commissioning, testing, snagging, and handover activities to ensure projects are completed to the highest standards.
Lead value engineering and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance project delivery and customer satisfaction.
Travel across the Middle East region as required to support project execution and customer requirements.
IMS Responsibilities
- Adhere to the Employee Handbook, Group Code of Conduct, the Group Compliance Policy, the IMS Policy, and all other applicable company policies and procedures.
- Maintain awareness of the requirements of, and their individual contribution to and impact on the effectiveness of, the Integrated Management System (IMS), including Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental and Product Compliance objectives and requirements.
- Report on unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, incidents, and injuries, quality issues, compliance concerns, violations to the appropriate personnel without delay.
- Participate in required training, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Experience:
Minimum 8 years' experience in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, Project Engineering, or Project Delivery roles.
Demonstrated experience leading technical delivery of complex engineering, construction, data centre, critical infrastructure, industrial, or MEP projects.
Proven experience managing projects throughout the full lifecycle from concept and design through installation, commissioning, and handover.
Experience working directly with clients, contractors, consultants, suppliers, and installation teams.
Significant on-site project experience within live project environments.
Experience identifying and resolving technical issues during project execution.
Experience making engineering decisions within programme, cost, and operational constraints.
Experience within Middle East markets is essential.
Data centre, mission-critical infrastructure, or hyperscale project experience is highly desirable.
Skills
Strong mechanical engineering knowledge with the ability to review and approve technical designs.
Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management capabilities.
Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to lead and influence multidisciplinary teams without direct line management responsibility.
Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery, risk, and project objectives.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
Strong planning, organisational, and decision-making skills.
Willingness and ability to travel throughout the Middle East region as required.
