Electrical Design Engineer

Job Description:

• LV Switchgear & Electrical Panel Design

• Design and develop LV switchgear panels, MCCs, PCCs, MDBs, SMDBs, DBs, ATS panels, and other electrical distribution/control panels.

• Develop panel arrangements considering electrical requirements, component dimensions, heat dissipation, cable entry, termination space, accessibility, maintenance, and applicable standards.

• Prepare technical designs in accordance with client specifications, project requirements, IEC standards, and approved design criteria.

• Review existing panel designs and propose suitable technical modifications based on project requirements.

• Electrical Drawings & Documentation Prepare and develop Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), General Arrangement (GA) drawings, schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, control schematics, termination drawings, and panel layouts.

• Prepare detailed AutoCAD drawings for electrical panels,

• cable routing, control wiring, terminal arrangements, and

• equipment layouts.

• Maintain drawing standards, revision control, drawing

• registers, and incorporate client/consultant comments.

• Ensure drawings are coordinated with equipment specifications, cable sizes, protection devices, and panel requirements.

• Electrical Component Selection

• Select electrical components such as ACBs, MCCBs,

• MCBs, contactors, overload relays, protection relays, CTs,

• meters, control transformers, power supplies, terminal

• blocks, and other panel accessories.

• Select components based on client specifications, fault

• levels, load requirements, protection philosophy,

• environmental conditions, and applicable IEC standards.

• Prepare and review technical datasheets and ensure

• selected components are technically compliant with

• project requirements.

• BOQ, MTO & Technical Documentation

• Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ), Material Take-Off

• (MTO), component schedules, and technical material lists.

• Prepare technical specifications, datasheets, material

• submittals, and vendor document requirements.

• Support preparation of RFQs and technical enquiries to

• suppliers.

• Review supplier quotations and technical offers for

• compliance with project requirements.

• Assist in preparing technical comparison sheets and

• material procurement recommendations.

• Client & Consultant Coordination

• Coordinate with clients, consultants, and project teams for

• design approvals, technical clarifications, and drawing

• reviews.

• Respond to technical comments and revise

• drawings/documents accordingly.

• Prepare and raise Technical Queries (TQs/RFIs)

• whenever clarification is required from the client or

• consultant.

• Participate in technical meetings and support discussions

• related to electrical design and panel requirements.

• Project Engineering Support

• Coordinate engineering activities with procurement,

• production, QA/QC, commissioning, and project

• management teams.

• Track engineering deliverables and ensure drawings and

• technical documents are issued according to the project

• schedule.

• Maintain engineering document registers and monitor

• approval status.

• Support preparation of progress reports and highlight

• technical issues or delays to the Project Engineer/Project

• Manager.

• Assist during site surveys, installation, testing,

• commissioning, and troubleshooting activities when

• required.

• Required Technical Skills

• Strong AutoCAD skills with the ability to independently

• prepare and modify detailed electrical drawings.

• Good understanding of LV switchgear, MCCs, PCCs,

• MDBs, SMDBs, DBs, ATS systems, and control panels.

• Good knowledge of SLD development, protection

• coordination, short-circuit calculations, load-flow analysis,

• voltage-drop calculations, and equipment selection.

• Ability to interpret electrical specifications, datasheets,

• BOQs, and client standards.

• Knowledge of IEC standards and electrical protection

• principles.

• Ability to coordinate effectively with clients, consultants,

• suppliers, production, QA/QC, and project teams.

• Good documentation, communication, coordination, and

• technical problem-solving skills.
