We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Consultant General Surgeon to join a leading healthcare facility in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage general surgical conditions, including gastrointestinal, abdominal, and soft tissue disorders.
• Perform laparoscopic and open surgical procedures, including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, and hernia repair, within authorized clinical privileges.
• Evaluate and manage acute abdominal emergencies, intestinal obstruction, appendicitis, and other surgical conditions.
• Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments and develop individualized surgical treatment plans.
• Perform minimally invasive surgical procedures using advanced laparoscopic techniques, where appropriately trained.
• Provide post-operative care, monitor recovery, and manage surgical complications.
• Interpret diagnostic investigations, including ultrasound, CT scans, MRI, and laboratory tests.
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, gastroenterologists, radiologists, intensivists, and other specialists.
• Educate patients regarding surgical procedures, treatment options, risks, and recovery.
• Supervise and mentor junior surgeons, residents, and surgical team members.
• Ensure compliance with DOH regulations, surgical safety protocols, infection control, and patient safety standards.

Requirements

Qualifications

• MBBS/MD or equivalent recognized medical degree.
• Recognized postgraduate qualification in General Surgery.
• Board certification or equivalent recognized consultant-level qualification.
• American Board, UK CCT, Canadian, Australian, European, or other internationally recognized qualifications are highly desirable.
• Minimum 5–10 years of relevant post-specialization experience preferred.
• Strong expertise in general surgery, laparoscopic procedures, abdominal surgery, and emergency surgical management.
• Eligible for DOH Consultant General Surgery classification/license in Abu Dhabi, subject to applicable UAE PQR requirements.
