Job Responsibilities
Life-Saving Appliances (LSA)
1. Periodical inspections of Life-Saving Appliances (LSA), such as winches, davits, lifeboats, and release hooks.
a) Check General Condition of Lifeboat
Condition of lifeboat structure including fixed and loose equipment
Engine and propulsion system
Sprinkler and air supply system, where fitted
Maneuvering system
Power supply system and bailing system
b) Examine for satisfactory condition and operation of release gear
Operation of devices for activation of release gear
Excessive free play (tolerances)
Hydrostatic interlock system, where fitted
Cables for control and release and
Hook fastening
c) Examine for satisfactory condition and operation of Davit
Davit structure, in particular with regards to corrosion, misalignments, deformations and excessive free play
Wire and sheaves, possible damages such as kinks and corrosion
Lubrication of wires, sheaves and moving parts
Functioning of limit switches
Store power systems and
Hydraulic systems
d) Examine for satisfactory condition and operation of Winch
Open and inspect brake mechanism where possible
Replace brake pads if necessary
Remote control system
Power supply system and
Winch foundation
Life raft
2. Periodic Inspection, Service and Certification including Documentation.
3. Repair and Maintenance of Life Raft.
4. Knowledge of Life Raft Contained opening / removal and Inflation system dismounted.
5. Container cleaning and fiberglass repairer if required.
6. Emergency pack in checked and items replaced if expired according to regulations.
7. Life raft equipment is inspected and replaced if needed.
8. Knowledge of Cylinder operating head, valve, knife, and release wire inspection
9. Experience of Inflation systems and high-pressure hoses inspection.
10. Checking of CO2 cylinder and correctness of content level.
11. Life raft deflation, repacking in the container and preparing for dispatch.
12. Quality Check of work done and completion of documentation as per regulations.
Firefighting Appliances (FFA)
13. Knowledge for the Periodic testing and inspections of FFA :
a) Fire mains, fire pumps, hydrants, hoses, and nozzles; Fixed fire detection and fire alarm systems; Fixed gas fire-extinguishing
c) Quality Check of work done and completion of documentation as per regulations.
d) Commissioning of firefighting appliances.
14. Work shall be done on board vessels or at the company workshop.
15. Work on spares requisition as per project requirement.
16. Able to use hand tools & power tools.
17. Prepare & maintain detailed test & inspection records.
18. Educating customers on the operations of the equipment installed.
19. Ensure compliance with health, safety & environment regulations.
20. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the department.
Required Skills & Qualifications
1. Diploma / Engineering / ITI or equivalent.
2. Minimum 2-5 years of experience in similar role.
3. Excellent academics and technical knowledge and ability to apply learned knowledge.
4. Knowledge of IMO / SOLAS regulations.
5. Knowledge of IACS and Non IACS Class approvals and process.
6. UAE driving License is added advantage.
