Overview
The Senior Process Engineer uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the process engineering discipline within McDermott. They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the process engineering discipline. The Senior Process Engineer solves complex problems and uses discipline-specific knowledge to improve their products or services. The Senior Process Engineer impacts a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities with the process engineering team and other related teams and ensures that they work within the appropriate guidelines and policies.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Education :
- Bachelor\'s Degree or Master’s Degree in Engineering
- 8-15 years of experience in oil and gas with a major contractor or consultants predominantly performing detail design
- Strong working knowledge of many design techniques and analysis methods and detailed knowledge of the content and application of standards codes and guidelines as applicable
- All Engineering disciplines, Fabrication Group, Safety Department, Document Control, Procurement Group, Subcontractors, Vendors, and Customers
- Preferably Registered Professional Engineer or member of professional engineering society as applicable
Responsibilities
Key Tasks and Responsibilities :
Perform conceptual, FEED, Studies and detailed analyses and design as per design basis, project specifications, design codes, and standardsDirect Engineering team as a Lead Engineer on small projectsApply knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and nonstandard situationsPrepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses, including design reports and proceduresManage own time to meet agreed deadlines and budgets and develop plans for short-term work activities in own areaClearly communicate and explain complex issues and work to establish understandingBe fully familiar with the project scope of work, specifications, schedule, and all inter-discipline requirements, including identifying concerns as early as practicable and taking appropriate initiatives to address the issuesIdentify changes to scope and promptly raise change notifications, including providing any necessary supporting documentation and estimatesProvide similar support for Variation OrdersInterface with all disciplines to develop clash-free designsInterface with other departments to obtain input for Discipline designs and drawingsMaintain close coordination with other engineering disciplines, Planning, and Project Management Teams, as requiredDocument substantive communications (communications that result in significant decisions or assignment of actions) and forward copies to Discipline Lead Engineer and Discipline ManagerAssist in the preparation of estimates for bid proposals, including technical query reviews, execution statements, and work-hour estimatesRaise technical queries to obtain missing information, clarify work scope, and maintain preferred McDermott procedures, specifications, standards, practices, and operational requirementsPrepare Discipline engineering design basis, philosophies, and technical specifications as requiredParticipate in finalizing deliverables lists and deliverables, ensuring compliance with specifications and functional integrityAttend project review meetings, vendor meetings, engineering meetings, and offshore site surveys, as requiredProvide technical direction and review of Designers producing products related to Process EngineeringPrepare and review design reports and proceduresAssist in providing necessary design inputs to other disciplines to enable them to proceed with their deliverablesReview vendor and subcontractor submittals, checking for compliance with project specifications and providing comments as necessaryGuide less experienced engineers on MDR and Discipline procedures, standards, worksheets, design calculations, software, requisitions, technical bid evaluations, technical queries, etc.Check engineering performed by others within the disciplineBe aware of costs related to own work and of the disciplineAct as a resource for colleagues with less experienceResponsible for preparing / checking the following key deliverables, applicable as per the Project scope :Process simulations / Heat and material balances
