JOB OVERVIEW
The Head of Wholesale is responsible for leading, strategizing, and scaling the wholesale operations of the used cars division, covering both domestic and international markets. This job is pivotal in defining the wholesale business strategy, building long-term buyer networks, ensuring compliance with export regulations, and driving profitability through effective inventory management, market penetration, and operational excellence. The Head of Wholesale acts as the commercial anchor for all wholesale activities, ensuring alignment with the group’s strategic goals while building a reputation for integrity, trust, and leadership in both local and export markets.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership & Market Expansion :
- Define and execute the overall wholesale strategy (local and international), in alignment with group objectives.
- Expand market reach by identifying, evaluating, and entering new markets and customer segments.
- Set ambitious sales, margin, and growth targets and ensure delivery through robust planning and execution.
- Champion innovation and digital transformation in wholesale channels, leveraging data, technology, and CRM systems.
Sales & Business Development :
Lead all wholesale sales activities to exceed performance targets across revenue, profitability, and volume.Develop strong networks with key buyers, distributors, dealers, and brokers globally.Negotiate complex, high-value deals with a focus on long-term partnerships and profitability.Represent the company in international forums, trade events, and exhibitions to build visibility and reputation.Inventory & Procurement Oversight :
Oversee procurement strategies to ensure a high-quality and diverse portfolio of pre-owned vehicles.Balance stock acquisition and disposal to optimize working capital, turnover rates, and profitability.Ensure demand forecasting accuracy through advanced market analysis and business intelligence tools.Export & Compliance Management :
Lead all export operations, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations, tariffs, and customs requirements.Build and manage strategic relationships with shipping companies, customs agents, and international buyers.Establish robust risk management frameworks for cross-border transactions and regulatory exposure.Financial & Operational Governance :
Develop and manage annual wholesale budgets, ensuring cost optimization and ROI maximization.Monitor KPIs across sales revenue, margins, and operational costs, implementing corrective measures where needed.Ensure adherence to corporate governance, transparency, and best practices in reporting and documentation.Customer & Stakeholder Management :
Ensure exceptional service standards, building customer loyalty and repeat business.Act as the key liaison between wholesale and other internal departments (Sales, Finance, Logistics, Marketing).Build alignment with Group leadership and represent Wholesale in cross-functional strategic initiatives.People Leadership :
Lead, mentor, and develop the wholesale team to deliver strong performance and professional growth.Instil a culture of accountability, integrity, and high performance.Ensure succession planning and capability-building for the wholesale function.General :
Uphold company values throughout business practices and utilise sound judgment in decision making.Any other additional duties as may be required by management based on needs of the businessPOSITION REQUIREMENTS :
A minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in automotive wholesale, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.Proven track record in achieving sales growth, expanding into new markets, and managing international trade operations.Strong experience in managing P&L responsibility and driving profitability in large-scale wholesale operations.MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATION
