Job Summary
The NAVCOM Service Engineer is responsible for installation, commissioning, maintenance, and servicing of Navigation and Communication (NAVCOM) systems on a wide range of vessels, including super tankers, commercial ships, and mega yachts. The role involves both technical service delivery and customer interaction, supporting sales and service activities while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Install, commission, and service NAVCOM equipment on customer vessels, yachts, and boats.
- Perform work on VDR-APT systems, navigation equipment, GMDSS systems, and associated marine electronics.
- Manage retrofit projects, including complete bridge installations and large-scale system integrations.
- Coordinate closely with service coordinators to ensure efficient scheduling and optimal use of resources.
- Provide technical support to customers, internal sales teams, and authorized service agents.
- Conduct surveys and inspections of ship radio communication and radio navigation installations, subject to required qualifications and certifications.
- Perform unplanned and emergency maintenance to restore vessel operations in case of equipment failure or malfunction.
- Prepare spares requisitions in line with project and service requirements.
- Generate accurate technical reports, service documentation, and project records.
- Carry out quality assurance checks and safety inspections on all installed and serviced equipment.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Prepare, maintain, and update detailed test, inspection, and commissioning records.
- Educate customers and vessel crew on correct operation and basic troubleshooting of installed equipment.
- Complete assigned work within agreed budgets and timelines.
- Attend offshore and onboard service jobs as required.
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations at all times.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the department or management.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Diploma, Engineering Degree, ITI, or equivalent technical qualification.Minimum 2–5 years of experience in a similar marine electronics or NAVCOM service role.Strong academic background with solid technical knowledge and practical application skills.GOC (General Operator's Certificate) is an added advantage.UAE Driving License is an added advantage.Physically fit and medically cleared to board vessels and perform offshore assignments.Key Skills & Competencies
