Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Will report to the Discipline Head / Lead Discipline Engineer / Project Management as appropriate.
- To assume responsibility for electrical design activities for Power Plants and EHV substations from concept to detailed design and as-building. (11Kv, 132Kv, up to 400Kv voltage level)
- To prepare EPC scope, Specifications, Material lists, SLDs, Layout drawings etc.
- To review vendor drawings specific to the equipment.
- Focal point responsibility for integrity and quality of the design / review work and deliverables
- To assist in coordinating the Electrical engineering and drafting activities so as to ensure efficient and economical design solutions whilst maintaining the delivery schedule.
- To assist in the development of less experienced Electrical personnel.
- To prepare requisitions for, and technical evaluations of, discipline material and equipment.
- To ensure equipment vendors provide high quality products for front end and detailed design packages and
- within the specified time frame.
- To ensure design packages comply with Client specifications and codes, safety, environmental, ergonomic and
- quality standards.
- To attend FAT of substation equipment where required.
- To manage interfaces with other disciplines.
- To identify potential applications for new technologies.
- To provide and promote effective communications between colleagues and senior staff.
- Must have required years of engineering experience in having developed a recognized career path.
- Extensive experience in detailed design.
- Must be fluent in written and spoken English with good technical skills applied to producing reports,
- consequently, must be computer literate.
- Must have experience of working within an ISO Quality environment.
- Good knowledge of applicable design standards and codes is essential, (ie IEC, IEEE, ISO and BS)
- Field experience in construction and commissioning would be advantageous.
- Must be able to demonstrate initiative and flexibility both as an individual and as a strong team player, coupled
- with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must have experience in electrical distribution including calculations and drawings, SLDs, layouts and profiles,
- cable schedules, EHV, HV & LV cable sizing, Wiring / termination diagrams, HV / LV control circuit diagrams,
- electrical layouts, earthing layouts (incl. calculations), lighting layouts, DC & AC UPS system configurations,
- vendor electrical drawings, construction scopes.
- Experience in very high voltage systems (400kV) would be advantageous.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is mandatory with Experience of 7-12 Years OR Higher is required
