Peergrowth is hiring a Machine Shop Engineer on behalf of one of our leading clients in the shipbuilding and heavy fabrication sector. The successful candidate will plan, coordinate, and supervise machining operations for marine and industrial components while ensuring the highest quality, efficiency, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and supervise machining of components such as shafts, valves, bearings, pumps, propeller hubs, and gearboxes.
Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications accurately.
Ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish meet classification society or client requirements.
Select appropriate cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, and determine speeds / feeds for milling, turning, boring, grinding, etc.
Lead and mentor machinists, technicians, and CNC operators; coordinate daily tasks, job orders, and shift plans.
Oversee in-process and final inspections using micrometers, CMMs, laser trackers, etc.
Liaise with QA / QC departments and third-party inspectors (ABS, DNV, Lloyd's, etc.).
Maintain compliance with ISO, API, and marine classification standards.
Schedule preventive maintenance and calibration for CNC lathes, boring machines, milling machines, and other tools.
Troubleshoot equipment issues in collaboration with maintenance teams or OEMs.
Apply Lean, 5S, and Six Sigma practices to minimize downtime and increase throughput.
Optimize cutting parameters, tool life, and material handling.
Contribute to cost estimation and feasibility studies for new shipyard projects.
Maintain accurate machining records, process sheets, and job-tracking reports.
Uphold HSE standards and shipyard safety protocols.
Collaborate with design, fabrication, welding, mechanical, and procurement teams to align schedules and technical requirements.
Support reverse engineering or refitting of legacy ship components.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.
57 years of proven experience in marine, oil & gas, heavy fabrication, or shipbuilding environments.
Fluent in English; Arabic is an advantage.
Age : 30 years or above (preferred).
Strong knowledge of machining processes, GCC, and international maritime markets.
Proficiency in CAD / CAM tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MasterCAM).
Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) and manufacturing documentation.
Experience with marine components, tolerancing, and shaft alignment is a plus.
