Group Senior Draughtsman

Job Purpose

Developing design inputs and technical drawings for master planning projects, large and small, within DP World’s portfolio of Container Terminals.

Supporting the planning of small as well as large, complex projects across different phases and levels of detail, under the guidance of senior engineers and managers.

To plan, design & draft, update and maintain projects in line with defined department procedures and standards for UAE and global projects across DP World’s portfolio;

Contributing ideas and technical input to the automation and innovation of port and terminal master planning.

Supporting multi-disciplinary Marine & Infra project design activities.

Engaging with the Global Operations, Middle East & African Region teams to support Port Expansion & Special projects.

To design & draft interior design, buildings, ports & terminals, marine developments, infrastructure projects and assist Project Managers (GPPMD and Global Operations) by producing detailed working drawings to meet business requirements.

Ensuring DP World design standards are reflected in drawings and submissions.

Ensuring deliverables are completed in line with agreed timelines and instructions provided by the Project Manager.

Supporting the review, drafting, issuance and archiving of NOCs received from third parties.

Key Accountabilities

Leadership

Provide any ad-hoc support to the Business Units for activities related to the Group Planning & Project Management Dept.

Provide all necessary support to the DP World Departments ., Global operation, Middle East & African Region and UAE Region.

Provide all necessary support to colleagues in projects, drawings errors, recovering damage drawings & AutoCAD technical & commands related issues.

Act as an ambassador for DP World at all times when working; promoting and demonstrating positive behaviors in harmony with DP World’s Principles, values and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; understanding and following DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies;

Demonstrates and articulates what a safe working culture is and means. Applies these principles in the way work is done;

Project Design & Drafting

Responsible for;

To design & draft conceptual proposals and details working drawings, translating written and verbal instructions from Engineer’s into draft concept and preliminary design drawings for range of projects below.

Ports development, Port Expansion, port Refurbishment, and upgradation;

In-depth Technical & Operational design ability of various port designs (RTG / RMG / ASC / RS / Rail Terminal) to produce detailed working drawings for ports & terminal in line with defined department procedures and standards for UAE and global projects across DP World’s portfolio;

Designing & drafting BOXBAY Storage Facility and preparing detailed working project drawings with cross section traffic maneuvering.

Design & drafting Rail terminal & Rail Infrastructure (seaport & dry port);

Design & drafting of Dry ports terminal & warehouses;

Design & drafting of P&O Maritime facilities;

Design & drafting of Road Infrastructure projects;

Design & drafting of building’s Projects . , Accommodation, Warehouses, Terminal Operation Building, Workshops, ERTG Maintenance Bay, Parts Storage other necessary port related buildings;

Design & drafting of Interior projects (Interior, Renovation & Refurbishment);

Drafting of Facility Maintenance Projects;

In-depth technical knowledgeof the functioning ofcontainer terminals design, & their technical and operational details ., quay furniture, quay Cranes and their types, stacking cranes and their types, yard stacking and types of stacking, reefers gantries & details, reefer wash bay & maintenance facility details, traffic maneuvering in ports & requirements of necessary Buildings and their designs;

Prepare detailed working drawings including Architectural, Structural & MEP as required. Also, communicating potential design issues to Engineers and Architects for range of projects above;

Assist Interior Design / Project Managers in space planning, design details & producing related drawings;

Issuance of As Built drawings to other business units & Clients for range of projects above;

Reviewing of As-built Drawings, reporting & notifying to Project Manager for ay discrepancy;

Support Managers and engineers in meeting Departmental Objectives with high level of container terminal operational and design understanding and efficient turnaround time;

Participate in research and presentation of new design proposals to support Managers & coordinate with Engineers on daily basis to ensure successful delivery of projects;

Update Master Plan of the Port / Freezone;

Supporting in all type of printing, Scanning, and sticking Glossy paper prints on boards for presentations and meetings;

Maintain a documentation filing system of reviewed / recorded project documents & drawings;

Comply with Departmental Procedures to ensure successful delivery of the project;

Promote and demonstrate positive behaviors in harmony with DP World’s values and culture;

Ensure that the highest level of safety is applied in all activities;

Understand and adhere to DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies Perform other related duties. Maintain an accurate record of organization assets and plot ownership data.

No Objection Certificate (NOC’s)

Reviewing and working on received third parties NOC’s requests ., DEWA, Etisalat etc. Ensure below action to be taken when request has been received.

Review the submitted drawings and documents.

Request for CAD file and other supporting documents if required.

Ensure to find asbuilt data if available in proposed Location.

Ensure to share with concern engineer for their review and inputs in NOC.

Ensure to Draft NOC as per scope of work of the NOC.

NOC’s Located in JAFZA area forward to JAFZA team.

Affection Plans / Lease Plan

Preparation of required documents for projects. Ensure below action to be taken when request has been received.

Draft Project Site Plan as per requirement of Authority (Trakhees);

Draft Proposals for new / renew / revised / merged plots Affection Plan in CAD & PDF as per requirement of Authority (Trakhees);

Collaboration & communication with Trakhees team for incorporating their feedback leading to approval;

Archive of received Affection Plan / Project Site Plan in available SharePoint / Share drive.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

Training / Qualifications :

Diploma in Civil Engineering

Auto Cad, Adobe Acrobat, MS Office.

Certificate of “Technical Drawing for Design and Drafting”.

Certificate of “Drawing Management for Design and Drafting”.

Certificate of “Annotating & Dimensioning for Design and Drafting”.

Certificate of “Creating & Modifying Objects with Accuracy for Design and Drafting”

Certificate of “Layout and Output Drawings for Design and Drafting”.

Experience :

Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in drafting, designing & producing conceptual proposals, detailed working drawings, technical drawings, tender drawings for various project & capable of accurate detailed work in architectural, structural and MEP drawings projects.

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working on Ports, Marine development & infrastructure projects;

Proven record of Handling complex designing and drafting assignments under minimal supervision;

Proven track record of working as a team member & supporting & leading colleague in various project;

Proven track record of Completing project responsibilities within scope, and schedule;

Proven track record of timely provided technical assistance and solutions to the team in drafting, designing and CAD related support;

ability to resolve project-related drafting and design issues, decision making, and prioritizing deliverables.

ability to develop detailed proposal drawings with minimum supervision, that is, verbal instructions or hand sketches are enough;

Proven track record of self-handling projects drafting and designing and keep suggesting, communicating, and updating the line-manager and project manager.
