JOB DESCRIPTION The Staff Nurse is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient / family education and transitions of care. The Staff Nurse supports professional nursing practice across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The Staff Nurse will understand, support and promote the mission, vision and values of SSMC; provides age-appropriate patient care according to the Nursing Scope of Practice as defined by the regulatory body. The Staff Nurse will adhere to and promote the Professional Nurses Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi and UAE.

Job Purpose and Responsibilities include coordinating nursing care, implementing evidence-based practice, providing education to patients and families, and ensuring safe transitions of care in alignment with regulatory and organizational standards.

Responsibilities

• Assessment and Diagnosis : Collects and analyzes assessment data to determine diagnosis / issues; assesses comprehensive data (physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive, spiritual) and interprets information to derive the diagnosis or issues. Uses evidence-based assessment techniques and validates the diagnosis with patient, family and healthcare team. Prioritizes data and identifies risks. Documents data per guidelines.
• Planning and Outcomes Identification : Identifies expected outcomes and develops a plan addressing health promotion, restoration and maintenance. Involves patient, family and healthcare team in formulating a culturally appropriate plan. Applies evidence-based practices and revises plan based on ongoing assessment. Documents measurable outcomes.
• Implementation and Coordination of Care Delivery : Implements plan in partnership with patient and team using evidence-based interventions. Performs treatments according to guidelines, administers medications per policies, ensures documentation in health record, communicates across care levels, and uses resources in a cost-effective framework.
• Health Teaching and Health Promotion : Uses appropriate teaching strategies, promotes healthy lifestyles and self-management, seeks feedback, and documents health education in the record.
• Evaluation : Evaluates progress toward outcomes; assesses understanding and response to care plan; revises diagnoses, outcomes and plan as needed; provides comprehensive clinical handover / report; attends rounds and communicates changes; documents reassessment and rationale for plan changes.
• Evidence-based Practice and Research : Integrates evidence and research findings into practice; participates in evidence-based or research activities; shares findings with the team; participates in performance improvement projects.
• Leadership : Demonstrates leadership, promotes a safe, team-based environment; coordinates and supervises delegated activities; exercises critical thinking; pursues leadership opportunities and participates in shared decision-making; supervises staff to ensure safe care.
• Accountabilities : Applies professional ethics; maintains therapeutic nurse-patient relationships; advocates for patients; questions practices for safety, discloses concerns per policy; evaluates own practice; considers cost and environmental impact; navigates electronic resources; participates in safety and continuous learning; responds to emergencies per policy.
