Job Summary
Marine Technicians are specialist technical professionals responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, testing, and certification of life-saving appliances and fire-fighting systems on marine vessels. The role ensures that all safety systems comply with Class, Flag, and international maritime standards, enabling vessels to operate safely and effectively.
Duties & Responsibilities
Life Saving Appliances (LSA)
- Carry out annual and five-yearly inspection, servicing, and certification of all Life Saving Appliances, including lifeboats, rescue boats, and fast rescue crafts.
- Perform dynamic and static load testing of lifeboat and rescue boat launching appliances.
- Conduct inspection, servicing, certification, repair, and maintenance of life rafts (throw-overboard and free-fall types).
- Ensure compliance with Class and Flag requirements related to life-saving equipment.
Fire Fighting Appliances (FFA)
Perform periodic inspection, servicing, testing, and certification of fire-fighting appliances, including :Portable fire extinguishersFixed fire-fighting systems (Novec, FM-200, CO₂, water mist, foam, dry powder systems)Breathing apparatus and EEBDMedical oxygen systemsLife jackets and immersion suitsCarry out hydrostatic pressure testing and refilling of cylinders in accordance with applicable standards and regulations.Technical & Project Responsibilities
Prepare, plan, and schedule service and maintenance projects.Track and monitor project progress and report status to management.Troubleshoot system faults and provide effective technical solutions.Use hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently.Compliance & Safety
Maintain documentation and records as per IACS and Non-IACS Class requirements.Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.Perform any other duties as assigned by the department or management.Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Diploma or Engineering qualification in any discipline.Minimum 2–5 years of experience in the marine field.Basic understanding of English with the ability to follow work instructions from clients, supervisors, and managers.Basic mathematical skills.Valid UAE driving license (mandatory).Key Skills & Competencies
