Overview
We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and people-focused HR Manager to join our team at GEMS Cambridge International School. The successful candidate will lead and support the full spectrum of HR functions, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and contribute to a positive, professional, and supportive school culture.
Responsibilities
- Recruitment and On-boarding : Provide support to the Principal / CEO in the recruitment of all school-based positions. Liaise with the corporate HR recruitment team for teaching positions and complete administrative tasks related to teacher recruitment. Manage the recruitment process for non-teaching positions, including advertising, shortlisting and screening candidates, setting up interviews, and communicating with candidates throughout the process. Prepare employment contracts using DAX in compliance with GEMS policies, procedures, and UAE Labour Law regulations. Coordinate MoE / Ministry of Labour offer letters and employment contracts with the designated government relations staff. Liaise with the travel department to arrange travel for new employees, send Welcome Emails and Handbooks, answer questions, and conduct new hire inductions. Process new hire forms (bank accounts, medical insurance, etc.) and design and conduct new employee orientations to explain school policies, compensation, and benefits.
- HR Operations Support : Manage day-to-day HR operations in the school. Administer HR policies, procedures, and programs; provide advice and follow-up on school policies and documentation. Maintain an organized employee filing system with up-to-date soft and electronic copies. Administer and explain benefits to employees and act as liaison with insurance carriers. Produce NOCs, salary certificates, and salary transfer letters using DAX in English and Arabic as required. Develop and maintain the HRIS database, employee files, and records; update the employee handbook as needed. Support ERP project teams with input on HR systems, policies, and requirements. Track approval processes requiring signatures from other departments or DAX approvals. Run DAX reports as requested by management. Draft routine correspondence and assist with statistical summaries and reports for the school and GEMS Corporate Office. Attend staff meetings and committees; share best practices with other School HR Officers; complete ad-hoc HR projects as required.
- Employee Relations : Coordinate resolution of policy-related inquiries; conduct research / investigations as directed; provide support to HR Area managers and HR Cluster leads for employee relations matters. Advise school management and staff on UAE Labour Law compliance. Be the first point of contact for employee relations issues and act as a counsellor and engagement champion within the school.
- Separations : Manage the separations process from start to finish for all employees following resignation or termination. Provide guidance on Labour Law regulations regarding separations. Liaise with leavers to compile exit documentation and coordinate clearance procedures. Conduct exit interviews (online and in-person) and report findings to the Principal as needed.
- ADEK and MOE Teacher Licensing : Oversee and coordinate the MOE professional license process. Assist GRE in obtaining and following up with ADEK appointment letters. Assist with preparation and payment of stipends.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (HR certification preferred).Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably within an educational or international setting.In-depth knowledge of UAE Labour Law and ADEK regulations.Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; high level of discretion, integrity, and professionalism.Proficient in HR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.GEMS Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students and staff.
