Overview
Engineer - Material role at AECOM. Responsible for obtaining approvals for materials submittal in all activities.
Responsibilities
- Prepare asphalt mix designs of various types (base, binder, wearing course) and obtain approvals from consultants / engineers, ensuring production from asphalt plants.
- Prepare concrete mix designs and conduct plant trials to ensure concrete quality.
- Interact with consultants and clients on day-to-day site activities relating to workmanship and product quality standards.
- Control non-conforming material at site and inspect all incoming materials.
- Maintain quality management documents, inspection / test records and checklists.
- Develop, modify, test and evaluate materials; provide technical advice on material suitability and fault diagnosis.
- Advise on planning, inspections, maintenance and repairs; oversee operational quality control processes.
- Liaise with suppliers, customers and manufacturing / development staff; supervise technical staff.
- Conduct and ensure in-depth fracture analysis and technical reports; maintain cycle time objectives within responsibility areas.
- Address material and process concerns from suppliers, manufacturing and customers; provide material information to engineering; update material logs.
- Test materials at external sources; interpret results, write reports and communicate with client engineers.
- Analyze product failure data and laboratory test results to determine causes and develop solutions.
- Conduct or supervise tests on raw materials or finished products to ensure quality; design and direct testing / control of processing procedures.
- Determine appropriate methods for construction of works; monitor material performance and deterioration.
- Plan and implement laboratory operations for developing material testing procedures meeting project specifications and performance standards.
- Review material submittals and make recommendations for material selection based on specification objectives (e.g., strength, weight, heat resistance, electrical conductivity, cost).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.Aware of Abu Dhabi Standards and Regulations.Aware of roads, structures, and civil infrastructure works.10 years overall experience; 5 years experience in the UAE preferred.About AECOM
